Wine of the Month October

 Pumpkins and Pinot Noir!

Pinot Noir

Ah, it is already October – time does fly fast! The fall is starting to unravel its beautiful colors and it is time to introduce yet another great wine varietal: this month we chose the all-time favorite – Pinot Noir 2013 from the Danube Plain Region.

This silver medal red was carefully handpicked early in the 2013 harvest season. It boasts with intensive aromas of cherries, vanilla and hint of dark chocolate. It has mighty taste with pleasant sweetness, spicy tannins, good length and great aftertaste with even more scents of vanilla.

Its color is dense ruby – red with a touch of violet and brick – colored nuances. Best serving temperature is 59 -64 / 15-17 /.

Pairing Tips

Pinot Noir is a perfectly suited wine to pair with a wide variety of food because of its bright acidity, complexity, and rich fruit character. It is one of the few varietals that pairs well with both a delicate, poached salmon and a rich, braised duck breast.

Try also pairing it with some stuffed eggplant with lamb and pine nutsroast pork loin with potatoes and herbs or some whole wheat rigatoni with roasted veggies. You cannot go wrong pairing it with almost anything and after all follow the most important rule: If you like it, it goes with it!

And of course October means it’s time for anything pumpkin! Pumpkin pasta, soup, latte we will take it all – and the best part is that it pairs great with light red Pinot Noir.

Pour yourself a nice glass of Pinot Noir and enjoy it with some pumpkin fettuccine or a creammy red curry squash soup.

Lastly, let’s not forget about the spookiest day of all during October – Halloween. Who says you can’t pair candy with wine – so don’t be afraid to pair this Pinot Noir with some Peanut Butter Cups or Starburst.

This October eat as much pumpkin as you can, drink a lot of Pinot Noir and enjoy all the colors of the fall!
